This 1200 beetle would fail an MoT. test and needs new heater channels and adjoining panels. We are fitting these without removing the body from the chassis as the floorpans are in good condition as far as we can tell at this stage. As work progresses we will be posting new and updated photo's here.
As you can see from the photo's only a small area around the jacking points was corroded, this was cut out and new repair panels were welded in place, the heater channels and surrounding panels were then bolted and welded in place.
While the wings were off it was decided that now would be a good time to replace the rear bumper mounting panels, as they were corroded behind the mounts. These were cut away and new repair panels welded in place.
The next job on the list was to trial fit the wings, then sand off the transport primer, which is poor quality and cannot be painted over as it can cause problems later when painting.
